Introduction
Macintosh 7200-series computers and compatibles may experience choppy or accelerated sound after installing an ATI video accelerator card. Disabling Virtual Memory in the Memory control panel may resolve this problem. If the problem is not resolved by disabling Virtual Memory, installing the ATI Sound Catalyst system extension may correct the problem (see Important Notes below).
Important Notes
• If you do not experience sound problems, the ATI Sound Catalyst is not required.
• ATI Sound Catalyst works only on Apple 72XX series computers with an ATI video accelerator card installed.
• If you own a PowerComputing PowerCenter, PowerTower, or PowerCurve (machines with 7200-based motherboards), please download PCI Timing Update 1.0 from the PowerComputing section of Apple's customer support web site <http://www.apple.com>. Once you install PCI Timing Update you do not need to install the ATI Sound Catalyst.
Software Installation
1) Double-click the ATI Sound Catalyst Installer icon and follow the instructions to install the ATI Sound Catalyst software.
2) Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
